I'm travelling through Japan and Vietnam with a 4mth old and would like to know what are the best travel portacots? And what is Red Nose's view of items like the Childcare Peuter Luxe Travel Dome and similar products?

Hi Nathan. As an organisation we don’t recommend products over different products, however there are two Australian standard cots that we do recommend. They are: AS 2172 Standard Cot and AS 2195 portable cot. As you are after a portable cot, I would recommend the AS 2195 portable cot - they are easy to fold and are very light to carry. While there are many portacots on the market, not all portacots sold in Australia meet the Australian standard, as defined by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. So, when looking to buy one make sure it carries the AS 2195 code on either the cot or box. In terms of the other product that you have highlighted, it is not a typically a product we would recommend due to several factors. These include: a) It doesn’t meet the Australia standards for long term unsupervised sleep, and b) the breathability of the environment is questioned due to the covering on the product.
