Red Nose Joint Announcement

Red Nose has announced that our interim CEO Theron Vassiliou will step down from the role, following 15 months of service to the organisation.

The recruitment process for a new CEO will commence immediately, with Mr Vassiliou continuing in the role until the recruitment process is finalised.

Mr Vassiliou’s tenure commenced following Red Nose’s transition from a federated to national model. During his time at Red Nose, he lead the organisation to its current position as a national charity with a renewed purpose of saving the lives of babies and infants, and supporting Australians impacted by the death of a child.

Under Mr Vassiliou’s leadership, Red Nose’s financial position has strengthened and remains disciplined to ensure long-term sustainability.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with one of Australia’s most recognised Not-for-Profit brands in Red Nose, and am incredibly proud of the achievements our team has achieved during my time here,” Mr Vassiliou said.

“It’s now time for Red Nose to find the next person to lead the organisation into the future.

“This is a natural part of the organisation’s growth journey.

“I would like to thank the Board, which is made up of passionate individuals who are committed to seeing our mission achieved. Directors have invested significant time in recent months to work with the Red Nose leadership team to better define the organisation’s culture for continued success.”

Red Nose Board Chair Craig Heatley thanked Mr Vassiliou for his contribution during his tenure.

“Theron is leaving Red Nose in a strong position for future growth, and we thank him for his leadership during a time of immense organisational change,” Mr Heatley said.

“We are excited to commence the search for a new CEO, who has the opportunity to join a talented team and one of Australia’s best known public health charity brands.

“We are looking for a leader who will shift Red Nose into its next growth phase and fulfil the immense potential of the organisation.”

Mr Heatley said Mr Vassiliou will continue as interim CEO at Red Nose until the recruitment process is finalised. “This will ensure continuity and allow for a smooth transition to new leadership,” he said.
